Energy Systems
Description of the Department
The department employees are focused on delivering electricity to all houses, buildings, and other construction and temporary sites that request and required the need for electrical power. Some of our major tasks involves installing new infrastructure such as Transformers, Hydro Poles, Power Lines, Guide Wires, Underground Wiring and Street Lighting.
Once installed, the Energy Systems crew has the privilege of maintaining, repairing, or replacing what needs attention to deliver electricity to everyone in Wemindji.
Safety is our first priory we try to promote at the Cree Nation of Wemindji.
Main responsibilities of the Department
Maintain and service the needs for Hydro electric distribution within the community of Wemindji and assist as required with the Mini Dam when required.
Garage
Description of the Department
The Garage Department works very closely with the Road and Walkways department to help in their requested repairs that is needed to help keep operations running.
The Garage also services the whole Cree Nation of Wemindji Fleet of Vehicles and equipment for all departments including the Airport and Transport Canada’s Equipment. All together there is 62 vehicles, 39 equipment, plus attachments and small motors that require maintenance and attention.
Main responsibilities of the Department
Maintain and service all the Cree Nation of Wemindji Vehicles and Equipment with the assistance of our Maintenance Prevention Plan while keeping all inspections up to date.
Road and Walkways
Main responsibilities of the Department
The Road and Walkways stives to safety maintain all roads and sidewalks within the Community of Wemindji in winter and in summer used by pedestrians and Drivers. We also have the opportunities assisting and work closely with other Cree Nation of Wemindji departments, and entities by providing equipment and operators when requested for projects, and repairs of all types when needed.
