Description of the Department
The Department of Public Safety leads all activities aimed at insuring the safety and security of members and domestic animals of the Crew Nation of Wemindji. The Department also safeguards municipal infrastructure.
Main responsibilities of the Department
The Department of Public Safety oversees the following services:
- Emergency Management, including search & rescue, ambulance service and fire response
- Home inspections
- Public health-related matters, including pandemic response
- Animal care and control, including wellness of domestic animals, registrations, spay & neutering and vaccinations.
